Chief Executive Officer | OAM CA AAPI CTA

Ian is the Chief Executive Officer of Hymans Valuers & Auctioneers. He established the business in 1984 after concluding almost ten years in the accounting profession and completing studies as a Chartered Accountant in 1981.

Ian’s expertise includes business valuations for professional services firms, manufacturing, importers and distributors, IT companies and many other industry sectors. Ian has been a member of the Business Valuation Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants since its formation.

Ian is also a certified plant and equipment valuer with a wide range of expertise that incorporates transport assets of all types, computers and related equipment, mining, food manufacturing, woodworking and metal fabrication equipment. Ian’s valuation experience ranges from insolvency administrations and large corporate valuations for publicly listed companies to five star hotels, vintage car collections and heavy engineering.

Chris Capraro

NSW & ACT Senior P & E Valuer | AVAA

Chris joined the Hymans team in 2014 and started out as a Trainee Plant & Equipment Valuer in Sydney and spent 2 years in the Perth office. During his time with Hymans he has gained valuation experience all around Australia across a wide variety of industries with a strong expertise in manufacturing, printing & transport but also includes construction, mining, engineering & earthmoving, plastics, hospitality, retail, wineries and much more.
Prior to Hymans, Chris worked as a real estate agent for 2 years which allowed him to understand how market trends and climates can critically impact asset values.

Paul Moschione

Divisional Director - Health Care Division | AAPI CPV

Paul is an AAPI CPV Registered Valuer who has over 32 years experience. Prior to joining Hymans, Paul was the Managing Director of a private practice that covered local markets specialising in the healthcare sector. Paul previously held the position of National Director of the Retirement and Healthcare Valuation division at CBRE, specialising in Aged Care Facilities, Retirement Villages, Medical Centres, Hospitals, Manufactured Home Parks and Child Care Centres.

Prior to joining CBRE, Paul was the National Director of Healthcare & Retirement Living Valuations at Colliers International for over 9 years.

Before working with Colliers, Paul was self-employed for 13 years running a boutique valuation/agency practice that provided transactional services in the healthcare sector, valuation advice on Aged Care and Retirement properties as well as Child Care Centres, Residential, small Commercial and Industrial properties.

Paul has had extensive experience in providing professional advice to private and public-sector owner/operators, lending institutions and consultants in the above sectors. The assignments undertaken have been across all asset classes for mergers and acquisitions, mortgage valuations, balance sheet purposes, feasibility studies and consultancy advice.

Mark Tallon

Senior Valuer/Auctioneer | Valuation Compliance Manager | ASA

Mark joined the Hymans Valuers and Auctioneers team in 1987 as a trainee auctioneer and valuer charged with conducting both in rooms and on site auctions.

Over the next 28 years Mark has had substantial valuation and auction experience in most market sectors and has traveled Australia, New Zealand and Macau providing valuation and auction services for a wide variety of clients.

This experience includes managing large stock audits, litigation, insurance, insolvency, family law, tax consolidation valuations, mergers and acquisitions, asset disposals and physical auctions.

Vincent joined the Hymans Valuers and Auctioneers team in 2018 as a senior plant & equipment valuer in our Brisbane office. With over 30 years’ experience Vincent has had significant valuation experience across a wide range of market sectors, and has completed valuation assignments across all states and territories of Australia, together with international valuation assignments in New Zealand, Canada, China, Hong Kong, New Guinea, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States providing valuation services and advice for a wide variety of clients. Tim Ellis has been with Hymans for 4 years, and has over 30 years’ experience as a valuer. He has held senior roles in Government, and has been a Registered Valuer since 1988. We Give Back

Ian Hyman and the whole Hymans’ team believe that giving back to the community and supporting those less fortunate is imperative to building functional and effective communities. Our annual goal is to donate 2% of turnover to charity, a target which Hymans’ are proud to consistently exceed.

The Hymans team is passionate about supporting a range of disability charities and plays an integral role in organising several fundraising events every year. The team participates in all facets of event management, pursues sponsorship opportunities and always strives for the best possible financial outcomes for the charities that we work with.

Ian Hyman is currently a board member of CNS Precision Assembly and also sits on the Disability Council of NSW which is the policy advisory body for the NSW government. Over the past 30+ years Ian has been actively involved at board level with Inala Disability Services, Association for Children with a Disability, the Down Syndrome Association, Lifestart Co-operative Ltd and Special Olympics, and in 2017 was awarded an OAM for services to people with a disability.

Charities regularly supported

  • CNS Precision Assembly – provides economically productive and personally rewarding employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities based in Hornsby in Sydney’s northern suburbs. The business is an Australian Disability Enterprise and manufactures circuit boards and electronics assembly.
  • Inala – is a Rudolf Steiner organisation supporting individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities through accommodation, respite care and supported employment programs.
  • St Edmunds Special Needs School – is a special needs high school based in the northern suburbs of Sydney that accommodates 110 intellectually disabled children each year in small classes of 10 and achieves extraordinary results.
  • Bayley House – supports individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities through accommodation, respite care and supported employment programs.
  • Help Enterprises  – is an  Australian Disabiity Enterprise that supports over 350 individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities through accommodation and supported employment programs all over south-east Queensland.

1993 – 2018 Annual Charity Lunch Sydney

With exciting and different themes each year, great locations and excellent speakers the annual charity lunch has been held for the past 25 years. Over $3m has been raised for disability charities through this event. These lunches have included auctions and raffles to help raise money. The 2018 the lunch was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in the Sydney CBD and raised over $236,000 for Inala and CNS Precision Assembly.

2008 – 2010 & 2014-2018 Melbourne Charity Lunch

Our Melbourne Charity Lunch has been held at the Royal Automobile Club in Melbourne CBD in support of Bayley House since 2014. Over the last 5 years the lunch has grown in size and popularity, raising over $380,000 during this time.

2015 – 2018 Annual Charity Lunch Brisbane

In 2015 we expanded our series of charity lunches to Brisbane, supporting the very worthwhile Help Enterprises. In 2018, the lunch raised $159,000.

2014 Special Olympics Upper North Shore – Ku-ring-gai Chase Fun Run

Hymans’ extensive client and staff network of 161 people sponsored Alistair Hyman, who has Down Syndrome. Alistair was a participant in the fun run. The generosity of clients and staff alike contributed to Special Olympics who donated over $20K for this event!

2006 – 2014 St Edmunds Special School Gala Dinner

This included excellent entertainment from St Edmunds students. Ian was on the fundraising committee for almost 10 years. Hymans supports this event financially and Ian conducts the auction each year.

2013 October Long Lunch

This lunch was in aid of providing financial support to Colin Pittorino, a close friend of the Hymans family who was involved in a tragic cycle accident and was left a paraplegic. Ian Hyman initiated this terrific fundraiser to assist Colin’s family, which includes 2 intellectually disabled children. The money raised was to assist him and his family through this challenging period.

In addition to the charity events frequently run by Hymans, it has been estimated that Hymans staff have conducted over 1,000 charity auctions over the past 30 years helping a wide variety of great charities raise tens of millions of dollars.
